Switching off pigment formation
- Home skincare from the basis of switching off pigmentation
- This step occurs in conjunction with pigment removal using lasers & peels
- Our specialists will select the best combination of ingredients
- We take into account your pigment type, skin sensitivities & chronological age
- Key ingredients include pigment correctors & antioxidants
How to switch off pigment production?
We prescribe a mix of skin care ingredients called tyrosinase inhibitors as the first phase of reducing pigment from pigment cells called melanocytes. The second phase of pigment reduction is to remodel the deeper layers of skin with ingredients known as senolytics.
Both phases of turning off pigmentation production are done at home (DIY skin care), with clinic visits scheduled every 4 to 8 weeks for pigment removal or skin remodelling, depending on what phase you are in.
Which ingredients do we use?
The key ingredients prescribed include a mix of vitamin C, arbutin, kojic acid, niacinamide, thiamidol, bearberry & licorice extracts.
How do we select the key ingredient for your pigment type?
The best skincare plan isn’t one-size-fits-all. It takes into account your skin tone, pigment type, sensitivities, and how you’ve responded to treatments in the past. Using advanced tools and years of expertise, our team will create a custom formulation suited specifically to your skin.
Can I switch off pigment production without removing pigment?
Provided you select the correct mix of pigment correctors, you will get some improvement of your skin, however results are slow. Ideally, lasers are employed to kick start the process of pigment removal, followed by skin care to reduce pigment production thereafter.
What is the biggest mistake patients make before embarking on anti-pigment skincare?
Effective pigment management starts with sunscreen, not serums. Sunscreen provides the essential foundation, as improper use compromises all other therapies. Before considering pigment correctors or laser treatments, patients should first learn correct sunscreen application techniques to ensure lasting and reliable results.
